Dan Shoevlin, Senior Vice President of UCR Dallas, has an impressive 23 year career which consists of extensive experience and success in project leasing and investment sales along with a noteworthy amount of national and regional retailer and restaurant tenant representation.
Dan began his real estate career in 1985 at Hopkins-Shafer under the direction of Mickey Ashmore, President and CEO of UCR. Dan held the position of Vice President of Hopkins-Shafer Company from 1985-1991 and Senior Vice President and Partner of Hopkins Commercial Real Estate Company from 1991-1992. During his tenure with these two companies he personally successfully negotiated over 250 lease agreements. In 1991 Dan exclusively represented and sold over $15 million of income producing properties for two major life insurance companies. He was honored by being the company’s Top Producer in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989.
In 1992, Dan joined and was instrumental in kicking off the restart of the commercial retail division of Henry S. Miller Company. During his association with Henry S. Miller Company, Dan brokered the purchase of, assisted in the redevelopment and lease-up of Pepper Square Shopping Center in North Dallas. Dan dove into the tenant representation end of the business with Boston Market in 1993 and negotiated over 40 locations for the chain in a 2-year period in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Beginning in early 1996, Dan exclusively represented Video Update in their 26 store expansion into the Dallas Fort Worth market and was named their National Broker of the Year. Thereafter, Dan subsequently secured the exclusive representation for Hollywood Video in North Texas and completed 22 transactions before their national expansion plans were halted. Most recently Dan exclusively represented and took Planet Tan from 6 stores to 16 stores in a 2 ½ year period before the chain was sold to Palm Beach Tan in late 2008. During his career, Dan has also exclusively represented Saint Louis Bread Company (Panera Bread Company), Fazoli’s Italian Restaurant, Rally’s Hamburgers, Palm Beach Tan, Right Start, Brooks Brothers, Italian Oven, On The Go Wireless, and Hit The Net in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Dan was a Top 10 Producer at Henry S. Miller Company 14 of his 16 years with the firm and he is a member of the prestigious Chairman’s Council. Dan held the position of Executive Vice President of Henry S. Miller Company from 1995 - 2008. He has been recognized on numerous occasions by the Dallas Business Journal as a “Heavy Hitter” and for the last 2 years by Costar as one of the top retail brokers in the country.
Dan grew up in a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1985 earning a Bachelor of Business Administration while majoring in finance and minoring in real estate. Dan is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors.
