Change of Plans Brings Center New Life
When Woody Mann of Vista Equities tied of La Centerra, he envisioned a grocery anchored center as the highest and best use for the property. As UCR was completing the leasing assignment on Market Steet The Woodlands and learned more about the requirements of specialty tenants, we felt there would be a demand in the Katy/Cinco Ranch area for a lifestyle center. Acting on our hunch, we leased La Centerra to 85 percent occupancy in less than two years despite having no major anchor and very little daytime population. Over the past four years, UCR has placed an impressive array of retailers and food service tenants in the project that continue to perform well and occupancy has remained strong even during trying economic conditions.
